WELCOME!

Welcome to my blog. Thanks for dropping by. Hope you'll stay and enjoy reading about where I've been and what I've been doing!

I don't mean this to be a replacement for personal emails, but it gives me the chance to put up photos and my scrapbook layouts, so I don't block up your in-boxes, or have to send the same photos and stories to everyone separately!
Thanks, and welcome, to the followers of my blog. I'm very honoured that you enjoy it. Drop me some comments from time to time! It's good to hear what you think about the posts. Come back again soon.

Thanks also to Mary of Mary's Mixes for doing all the work on the blog's heading. You are great, Mary!

A bit of a Miscellany

view to hills We had a drop of snow recently!  Nothing much down here.  Thankfully it all stayed on the hills – which I can see, thanks to the pollarding!   I had a bit of a giggle to myself this morning though, as I am reading Penny Plain, by O. Douglas, a story set in the village of Priorsford – which is really Peebles - and found a bit spoken by the heroine Jean.  Her brother had just spent his first term at Oxford University, and Jean was explaining how she knew he had been homesick at first. “…he spoke with passionate dislike of pollarded trees, because such things are unknown on Tweedside.”

east lothian, forest walks etc 005 Oh Anna, (O Douglas), if only you could see what the Green looks like today.  Unknown on Tweedside?  No longer!

While I’m on the subject of Penny Plain, - Katrina, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that The Rigs is either a bit of writer’s license or it has been pulled down.  I had two contenders but neither really fits the bill 100%.

norma's doos Remember the bluetit Norma knitted at the end of January?  Well, she’s knitted a couple of doos now!  Doves, in the English tongue.  Take a look!  Pretty good, eh?  Wonder what the next ones will be!

primrose blue How do you like these primroses?  Linda bought them for her garden the other day. Had to take a photo – much to Linda’s amusement, I have to say!!!! primrose 2

I just thought they were so pretty, I wanted to make a record of them!

Anyway, a brief entry today as I haven’t much time, I’m afraid!  I’ll post again after the weekend as I’m going to be pretty busy in the next few days.  I’ll tell you more next week.

Talk again soon.

So many buildings have been pulled down over the years in towns I've lived in so I suppose the Rigs has probably gone the same way. Just as well the Buchans aren't around to see those trees they look positively painful. Those doos are the only kind to have in my opinion! The primroses are gorgeous, I bought some too and slugs are munching them already. Pellets required I think!

I've been looking on the wrong side of the river for the Rigs! Jean and co. drove over Tweed Bridge and Cuddy Bridge, up the Old Town and out of Priorsford, on their way to Stratford, so the Rigs is across Tweed Bridge! Puts a whole new complexion on things!
I agree with you both about the doos!!! Hope the slugs don't demolish your primroses completely, Katrina.
