part two: at Carmichael Mill

  In the garden grassy paths wandered through a long section of woodland along the river side.  The owners tend to plant flowers, allow them to seed where they like, and if they themselves don’t like where the self seeded plants have grown, they lift them and plant them where they do want them! 

 

As a result they have a beautifully wild, but controlled, garden, incorporating the bridges, streams and sluice gates around the mill. 

  I just couldn’t stop taking photos – as usual.  These are just some!

 

I’m not sure what these blue flowers are, but they are so pretty. Below is a variety of euphorbia.

 

 

 

 

and this is a particularly stunning hawthorn tree.

 

This Welsh poppy’s petals looked like crushed tissue paper.  These grow like weeds in my garden!  

 

 

 

 

 ……and what about the swans nesting by the river?
