part two: at Carmichael Mill

  primulasIn the garden grassy paths wandered through a long section of woodland along the river side.  The owners tend to plant flowers, allow them to seed where they like, acquilegias and if they themselves don’t like where the self seeded plants have grown, they lift them and plant them where they do want them!  SPC EH birds carmichael mill 087

 

As a result they have a beautifully wild, but controlled, garden, incorporating the bridges, streams and sluice gates around the mill.

and this is a particularly stunning hawthorn tree.poppy

 

This Welsh poppy’s petals looked like crushed tissue paper.  These grow like weeds in my garden!rhoddy   weigela
