Up to Queenstown

Hello again. I promised we'd go travelling, so here we go, heading along the south coast then turning north to Te Anau before reaching Queenstown.

The Kingston Flyer used to carry passengers and goods from Invercargill and Gore to the southern end of Lake Wakatipu at Kingston. Today it runs as a tourist attraction on 14km of track between Fairlight and Kingston. Here it is leaving Fairlight.

Deer are farmed in NZ in much the same way sheep and cattle are.

The Remarkables were given the name because early geologists thought the way the mountain range had been tilted by the movement of the earth was remarkable!

The Skyline Gondolas start from here and take you up the hillside, past the bunjee platform to the top station where there is a viewing terrace, restaurant, souvenir shop, and the chance of more sporting activities as well as walking.
